Hello world! This is my very first blog post so please have a little patience with me here. I’m the Owner and Principal Consultant at Give it Look See – an HR/Payroll operations analysis and consulting firm. After working in the industry for nearly 20 years and improving processes in my 9 to 5, I started this business to identify and implement improvements in HR and Payroll which are two departments that are sometimes seen as less important than the departments that generate revenue for the business even though these areas touch every employee in an organization and have processes that can have negative consequences if ignored for too long, but that’s another topic for another day.
The first reaction that I get from people when I tell them the name of the company is “what”…”what’s the name again?” I’ve told them to google the term (with some attitude of course) and see what it means- that probably isn’t the most customer friendly thing to do but business owners are sensitive about their stuff including the names that are given to their “babies”.
Because of the consistent reactions that I have received, I’ve considered changing the name a time or two, but then I remember why I chose the name – it’s because I use the term “look-see” a lot; a lot more than I ever realized until I was considering a name for the business. It has some of my personality sprinkled in which justifies the slight attitude that I give people when then can’t seem to understand or hear me, but I digress.
Some synonyms for the word “look-see” include audit, check, examine, – a quick act of looking at or examining something. Because we specialize in analysis and consulting, I believe Give it a Look See fits perfectly. Our claim to fame is making fast changes that create immediate and positive experiences for the HR/Payroll professional and customer. Sometimes we’re too close to our own processes to see the low hanging fruit that can create positive change quickly.
